David R. Carter, Sr.

U.S. Veteran

David Ray Carter, Sr. Of Sheridan, Arkansas was born November 16, 1953 in Houston, Texas, the son of Edith Geraldine Sisco Jones and the late Felix W. Carter. He was an active member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan where he served as music leader and Sunday School Superintendent. He retired as a Security Specialist at the Pine Bluff Arsenal and had served in the United States Navy and the National Guard and was Sergeant at Arms for the VFW. He had previously served as a city and county auxiliary police officer. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his precious grandchildren.

Mr. Carter passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Mike Carter.

Survivors: Spouse, Patricia Richard Carter of Sheridan; Sons, David Ray Carter, Jr. And wife Renee of White Hall; Shane Carter and wife Leisa of Alexander; Jeff Carter and wife Kim of Cabot; Chris Carter and wife Misty of Sheridan; Mother, Edith Sisco Jones of Dixon Mills, Alabama; Half Brothers, Donnie, John David and Ricky Carter; Sister, Karen Gamet and husband Chuck of Rogers; Half sisters, Michelle Wormser and husband Jerry of Mississippi; Tammy Landriault of Oklahoma; Step-sisters, Janet Whitmire and Judy Ball of Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. George Reeves officiating. A time of visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 6490 Hwy 270 East, Sheridan, AR 72150.
